Celebration of Life
On Sunday August 16 I had the honor of speaking at a celebration of life for a dear friend, a yogini who had recently passed from the earth plane to continue her journey after a 2 year long experience with cancer.
The setting couldn’t have been more appropriate.. The Lawaii International Center‘s 88 sacred shrines stood like silent sentinels over the proceedings in which we were given the opportunity to plant orchids near the shrine of our choice in Denise’ memory.
Death is one of those questions like;
“Who am I”, “Why am I here?” “What is this life we are living?” It inspires reams of conjecture, and philosophy. Yogis in India will often meditate at cremation sites to understand this experience. Yet really, until we go through this ‘experience’ and all the story and guessing are stripped away will we truly ‘know’.
The hatha yoga pose of savasana at the end of practice is one of surrender, about the practice of letting go into the ‘being-ness’.
A phrase I often used at the end of practice as we moved into savasana Denise would often comment was her favorite (especially after a particularly challenging practice) it was “No more need to do…just be”
And so to this dear, strong, sweet warrior, that constantly inspired and up lifted all that she came in contact with –
“No more need to do…just… Be.
Congratulations Denise, the joy and the learning continues.
Thank you for gracing our experience here and the sharing of your magnificent being. May we all be able to embrace this experience with your joy, courage and loving surrender .

Aloha Doreen,
I am so very thankful for the connection we have made through our mutual ‘spirit guide’ –
To me this is the beautiful mystery of “how it all works” continuous loving connections and as you so wisely put it: Spirit knows no linear time- the pebble is thrown and the vibrations continue their magic. Quite mind boggling..,..
Thanks for taking the time to comment and re-establish our connection – I know Denise is so happy her “family” is there with you being loved….
Be Well Doreen -
The service was beautiful Paul. The words you spoke were so fitting for my dear friend. I do misss her physical presence everyday, but I am so honored to have her animals with me. As I walk them 3 times a days, I meditate with gratitude for our 40 years of growing, learning, sharing earth’s tragedys and joys, loving….and as spirit knows no time or space the 40 years will continue. I am grateful for our connection through your website. She continues to introduce me to beautiful people even beyond the veil. Thank you Paul.
Blessings, Doreen
