What
is Yoga?
by Paul Reynolds
Yoga is the
realization, or the remembering of the connection of those energies once
thought to be opposites.
Yoga is a dance
in the land of paradox.
The physical practice (Hatha yoga) I see as the manifestation in this
physical realm of the ebb and flow. The balancing of those energies some
could say is "inner-peace". Perhaps.
The vehicle
or system attributed to it manifests in various hues and textures, whether
it be in a hatha practice, mowing your lawn or helping your child with
homework.
Hatha, Raja,
Karma., Buddhism, Zen, - the ancients , just like ourselves in the present
day, attempt to categorize and systemize "a way of being" to
attain an unnamable.
Yoga in my
experience, like the Tao, cannot truly be named, once it is it is no longer.
At its essence is a spontaneous experience that we cannot look for and
try so very hard to prepare for.
