No Choice

As we curled up
Supporting one another

(Now an effortless art form)

Burrowing into sand
Your head resting against my chest
My arms wrapped around you
We waited
For the orb to
Do its nightly

Dance of retreat

And as the setting warmth
On the horizon
This love of ours
Had no choice

No choice
But to find us

No choice

But
To swim
Through the eddies of time and Space
It had no choice but to shine
Ever so brightly

To beckon to us
To come dance
To embrace us
Look after us

And place

One step at a time
In front of us
Signs of experience,
Some reminders

And memories

Laced with
A “difference”
Always knowing

Letting us
Try to define it’s
Quality,
Texture,
Color and temperature

Like children on
A Christmas morning
Or watching a new puppy playing

We giggle

As it found its way into the
Tiniest recesses of our day,
The fleeting kiss
As we went about
Our daily tasks

And as it burst forth
Like the Phoenix
Our bodies, hearts and minds
At last surrendering to it

We look into each others eyes
Trying to figure out
Trying to release to
Trying to hold on to
And finally letting go to
Today’s manifestation

As we sat in the sand
We realized
We were mirrors
Reflecting the setting orb
Assurance of safety
Traveling through our being

An emerald spark

Winked

It had no choice
