Ascension: Distraction or Incentive?

I believe in Ascension, but not as it is viewed in New Age circles.

file006The more painful and chaotic life on earth becomes, the more the word Ascension surfaces. It is reflected as a knee jerk reaction to world events that people no longer want to bear witness to. Some conveniently believe that Ascension is awaiting through little to no effort of their own. This has a hollow ring for me. This concept is akin to waiting for alien Beings to save us from ourselves, one of the most disempowering messages being perpetuated in today’s alternative communities.

Rather, I would say Ascension in the earth realm is more a matter of learning to honestly contend with and transform our reactions to what is appearing around us – to find that font of compassion, for ourselves and others, and to learn from our old (subconscious) wounds. Taking on the world and our own pain from a place of grace and understanding IS Ascension.

Then what awaits us is a life on a planet that Beings are lining up to experience – beauty everywhere we care to see it, free will to make or break our experience here. When we learn to have compassion for our plight as beautiful, highly creative and highly intelligent souls blended with these earth bodies, then we Ascend to the understanding that author Anita Moojani refers to in her new book What If This Is Heaven?

If we think about it for just a moment, what if we were programmed to dial into the magnificent on this planet? A small touch, smile, bite of food or act of listening becomes a stem cell in creating magnificence. Every flower in bloom, rusty leaf falling, baby laughing and bird chirping its song becomes profoundly beautiful. But this may require we stop obsessing over the list of what’s not working, and what hasn’t been provided us, to see this beauty. It’s a choice.

I believe heaven is right here, just waiting for us to invite ourselves in.
